So sad. What happened with Good will towards man?

I read this article today. Really sad. A temporary employee at Walmart trampled to death at 5am by the hordes of people pushing, running and shoving each other to be first into the store. It took "SEVERAL" (ie way more than that) minutes to clear a space around him....they say hundreds of people must of stepped on him. Wait it took that long only to clear a space around him? Nobody thought, "Hey there is a guy on the ground I just stepped on maybe I could help him out"...instead it was SALE SALE SALE. ridiculous.
